Pruning Carob and Calistemon in Montgó
This action addressed the structural and health recovery of two specimens that were in an advanced state of abandonment, without treatments or pruning for years.
Carob (Ceratonia siliqua) The specimen showed a densified crown, with disordered branching, presence of dead wood and epicormic shoots. A health and training pruning was carried out, eliminating dry, crossed and poorly oriented branches, with the aim of recovering the natural architecture of the tree, improving the entry of light and promoting internal aeration. The intervention respected the characteristic shape of the carob tree, avoiding aggressive cuts and prioritizing the conservation of physiological balance.
Calistemon (Callistemon citrinus) This shrub had an excessive accumulation of dry and aged branches, which made its flowering difficult and compromised its aesthetics. Rejuvenation pruning was carried out, eliminating unproductive wood and favoring the emission of new shoots from the base. Cleaning allowed it to recover its natural shape and stimulate its ornamental capacity, especially during the flowering season.
Thanks to this intervention, both specimens have recovered their vitality, functionality and landscape value, integrating once again into the natural environment of Montgó.
