Perimeter Planting and Shaded Zone Project in Dénia

This project details the comprehensive landscaping intervention carried out in a residential development located in Dénia. The project is divided into two primary actions: the creation of a large perimetral plant screen to optimize the privacy of the complex and the ornamental design of a planter tailored to shade and wind conditions.

1. Perimeter Plant Screen: Privacy, Aesthetics, and Aroma

With the objective of visually and acoustically isolating the residential complex from surrounding areas, a massive alignment was planned along the development's perimeter:
  • Planting Density: Installation of 200 star jasmine specimens (Trachelospermum jasminoides), selected for their excellent climbing behavior, resistance to Dénia's coastal climate, and evergreen foliage.
  • Sensory Impact: The arrangement of this continuous row drastically improves the aesthetics of the perimeter walls, offering a dense green backdrop year-round that also provides an intense and pleasant fragrance during its spring and summer blooming season.
  • Ground Conditioning: To guarantee optimal rooting and accelerate the growth of the screen, a massive application of enriched organic matter was carried out in the planting trench.
  • Irrigation Network: A complete installation of a drip irrigation pipeline system was executed, automated and sized to deliver the exact required flow rate while minimizing water evaporation.
2. Ornamental Round Planter: Dry Textures and Shade Species
In a specific sector exposed to air currents and low direct solar incidence, a circular focal space was designed, combining aggregate art with adapted botany:
  • Geometric Design and Aggregates: Configuration of a round planter utilizing a geometric layout that combines three types of gravel (volcanic, blue-gray, and white). The contrast between the different textures, porosities, and colors of the gravels creates a high-impact mineral tapestry requiring zero maintenance.
  • Sustainable Botanical Selection: The interior space of the planter was populated with a combination of plants highly resistant to shade and wind, notably clivias (Clivia miniata) for their strap-shaped foliage and striking blooms, along with begonias (Begonia), which provide foliage texture and constant color in shaded environments.
